The average work week has gone from 40hrs/week to easily over 50hrs/week, often including weekends or holidays. The average workload within my department has nearly doubled on average over the last 18-24 months, even before the reduction in force. While I believe that leadership intends to preserve the family culture and promote a healthy work-life balance, overall neither of these things are panning out within the organization.Įmployees are under constant pressure to perform at a level of excellence while access to appropriate resources nececary to efficiently complete job duties are at times lacking. They have experienced both massive growth over the last three years and a significant reduction in force recently. The majority of people are truly nice yet still ambitious - lots of great people to learn from. If "life happens" during work hours, no problem, go deal with it. Employees are expected to manage their own calendar, projects and set the right expectations with co-workers and their manager.Įxtremely supportive of work/life balance and integration. Being a 100% virtual company, Goodway recognizes that it can't micromanage work, so it doesn't. The culture is one of empowerment and treating people like adults. The most successful individuals at Goodway are those who saw a functional gap in the organization and essentially created their own job by filling that functional gap. There are ample opportunities for growth and advancement for those with an entrepreneurial spirit who aren't afraid to try new things.
Both of these factors contribute to a positive company culture. Being family owned, it truly cares about its employees and its ongoing legacy.
